one4fishingreloading info for barnes 168 xbt for 30-06
I am looking for any info on reloading info for my browning 30-06 for the Barnes 168 grain xbt. I have ordered their reloading manual but in the meantime I want to see if anyone has any pet loads or general info.

Ken ClineI assume you are talking about the coated XLC 168 grain bullet. As far as I know, they don't make a non coated bullet in this weight.
The following loads are for the COATED bullets only:
IMR 4350 55.5-59.5 grains 2861-3064 fps
IMR 4831 58.0-62.0 grains 2895-3091 fps
RL19 58.0-62.0 grains 2872-3067 fps
IMR 4064 48.0-52.0 grains 2789-3017 fps
VARGET 48.0-52.0 grains 2762-2988
These are the powders that produce the highest velocities with these bullets. These are loads listed in the Barnes book. Barnes recommends Varget or IMR 4064 for this bullet. IMR 4350 and 4831 probably would be compressed loads in the '06.
