Pleased with my results
Well after hounding you guys alot I have been building upp loads for my 223 savage 112 with a 26 inch barrell. Wee I finally got a dry day so Off I went. Had reasonable results from all powders and variation, however My rifle seems to preferr IMR 4895 and ramshot tac. I shot some vargert and it seemed fine, However 4064 just couldnt get in a good group for me. Anyhow thanks for all the advice so far. Now I have compiled more data for the 223 and will keep trying to get better groups and keep you posted.

Jay JohnsonYou didn't mention the bullet or bullets you where using with your loads. Just curious.
Started out with the old 55 FMJ. Now I have a good start I will use others. I needed to zero this as I just installed the scope and havent really fired it before so i went with the old cheap bullets for now just to get started.

308SakoGunz, Varget and IMR 4064 are at their best with the heavier bullets in the .223 (69's and 75 - 80 grainers.) Regardless, any day shooting is better than wishing you were...

cobradI have found that match grade bullets, and I use Sierra Matchkings as my bench mark bullet, usually will give me better groups. One of the most important factors in group size that I have found is seating depth. Have fun!
I know I still have a long way to go, But thats the fun of it. I am just starting out with the little stuff and the bullets I could get hold of easily. I have ordered a variety of different grain bullets and different primers to boot. Just having fun and enjoying what I have learned so far.

FjoldWelcome to my nightmare! Sure we all get started thinking that it will just be for "fun". Then you get hooked and start buying more and more components, pretty soon you're going to the range just to shoot ammunition that you loaded so that you can reload some more.
Then you find yourself gloating over the empty cases that you scramble around for on the range that someone left "Wow! this is brand new brass from someone shooting factory loads!"
Pretty soon you're standing in an alley with bags of brass under your raincoat whispering to passer bys, "Psst, wanna buy some once fired 303 Brit brass?"
Oh yeah, it's all fun and games now but just wait, the monkey on your back will be worse than anything else you've ever known.
P.S. I've got some perfect 68 LC match brass for sale if you "need" it.
