303GuyLooking at the Hodgdon reloader site I see that the max loads for some powders for the Krag are lower than the start load for the 303 Brit. Varget is not listed at all. That means it is unsuitable for the Krag at the lower operating pressures of that cartridge in a Krag rifle. Reducing the load that much with Varget could result in 'detonation'. (The 303 Brit case has a smaller volume).

JALAs 303Guy says, Varget (2208) is not listed by the manufacturer for the 30-40. Although faster and slower powders are, where 2205,2207,2206,2206H are faster, and 2209 slower.
