Barnes Solids
Hello,
Has anybody and experience with the Barnes Solid Spitzer in the either the 45 or 50 grain weight? 22-250 will be pushing it.

Howdy! I have not work with the .22s in Barnes solids, however I have done testing with the 90 grainers in .25 caliber. What characteristics are you interested in? I'm going to assume accuracy, and from what I have tested, accuracy was fairly good--.449" at 250yards I think was my best group, but the load still needs some modifying. Velocity was about 20-35 fps slower, but my guess, if pushed for one, would be the the solid bullets are slower to obturate <spelling?>, forming a less efficient gas seal, and also, being harder, take slightly more beef to accelerate down the bore. A guess, but not one made without some education. Hope this helps, post what aspects you are concerned about.

Hello,
Yes I need an accurate load in the 22-250 featuring these bullets. I am hoping that somebody can steer me toward or away from any load combinations that just will not work for me at all. Right now I am working with Hodgdon Benchmark and IMR 4064. Hopefully will get to try a few others this weekend.
