Burlington RdRamshot TAC and 30-06
Has anybody used Ramshot TAC for reloading 30-06 for use in a Garand? Burn rate is listed between H335 and H4895.
It is a spherical double based powder and is said to be clean and meters like water. It also is the least expensive powder brand at Sportsmans Warehouse.

krakyNo matter what you hear on the web I'd call ramshot and see what they say...it is very close in burn rate.

LWDMy first thought was, "it's a bit too fast." But you're right about its position on burn rate charts. However, that they don't list any loads for the .30-06 using it may say all you need to know.
Definitely call them to see if they have any experience or data with it.

krakyI just remembered that I have a jug sitting here and they do have a 30-06 load on it. Says 48.5 under a 168 grainer will do 2901 fps at 57K pressure. That sounds really fast for the pressure. Maybe they used a 28"barrel!!
There is also an 800 number on the label...maybe give it a try...800-497-1007

Burlington RdGood suggestions. I just sent them an e-mail. Ramshot just put up a new on line manual.
They only list Big Game and Hunter powders for 30-06, both slower than IMR 4320 although Big Game is close.
TAC is listed as the powder for .308 Win.
I will let you now their reply.

I noted to them in my email the uniqueness of the M1 gas system-not faster than 4895, nor slower than 4064 powders, with bullets not heavier than 175-180grn.
I have not tried any of these recipes, but they do seem within range of similar ball powders....
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!
