Bill ThibeaultReduced .30-06 Loads
Does anyone have a reduced load (MV of 1,600-1,800 fps) for the .30-06 using 150 grain bullets and SR 4759 powder? Also, do you use standard or magnum large rifle primers with these loads?
Thanks in advance,
Bill.

craigster20.0 - 24.0 grs SR 4759, MV 1600 -1900 (+/-) fps. Standard large rifle primers are all you need.

Hot CoreHey Bill, Don't forget the Hodgdon "60% of a SAFE MAX H4895" Rule. It can be found on the Hodgdon web site. So, if you have a jug of H4895 on the shelf, you can get going fairly quickly.
However, for Reduced Loads, I also prefer the High Bulk Powders like Craigster mentioned. Loose Powder in a Case is rarely a good idea for many reasons.
Best of luck to you.

craigsterAnother powder you might want to look at would be Trail Boss, Hodgdon has data on their site.

Bill ThibeaultHot Core and Craigster,
Thanks again for your responses. I especially like the tip about using 60% of the max listed load for H4895, a powder I keep on hand. I've used it for years, but never read the reduced load info on the Hodgdon website (it's found under Data - Youth Loads).
I have a can of SR 4759, so will use that up, and then use the H4895 data if I need to make any additional reduced loads.
Best Regards,
Bill.

nvmichaelSpeer Manual # 10 lists The same as Craigster posted.
Also lists other loads.
Bill, Please post your results as I was thinking of trying the same.
Thanks

Bill Thibeaultnvmichael,
I'm going to the range on 8 June to shoot reduced loads in both .30-06 and .300 Win Mag caliber rifles. A friend and I are getting ready for a Montana elk hunt in late September of this year. I used:
A. 22.0 grains of SR 4759 with 150 grain bullets in the .30-06
B. 27.0 grains of SR 4759 with the same 150 grain bullets in the .300 Win Mag.
I'll let you know how things turn out.
Regards,
Bill.
This is not the powder you have been asking for but in the same burning rate range. I load 125 grain SP bullets with Vihta N110 for running boar practice. This load shoots pretty well even at 100 meters and I have been tempted to use it for roe deer.
