Oldmodel70Winchester 748
Anybody use 748 in a .17 Remington? Was thinking it should flow through that little bitty neck better than the stick powders I been using.....And I have a quantity on hand... I use it for my son's 6X47.........Thanks, Grant.

butchlocmy load is for H380 with 25 grains. thats a fairly full case and it does load much much easier than stick powder. 748 should work just fine, just a bit faster is all

vapodogWhile it's conceviable that Win 748 will work fine It's also the case that Hodgdon does not show a load for it in the .17 Rem but they show the Win 760.....I'd suspect that H-380 would also be a fine selection.
see
data hereI know that at least one commercial manufacturer of this round uses Viht powder.....but I'd sure be liking the ball powders in the small necks!!!!

seafire/B17G748, BLC 2, H 335 would all be good 17 Bore powders.. in many 17 bore cartridges...
H 380 is also a great powder in the 17 Rem, the 20 caliber bores, and the 22 caliber bores...

swheelerOM70; Hodgdon manual 25 and 26 show 21.5 grs W748@ 3640, max 23.0 @ 3917 with 25 gr bullet. Hornady 3rd edition shows 21.1-23.3-3900fps- of W748 with their 25 gr HP. I always figured 748 was just a different lot speed of BLC2.
