For you guys useing a redding carbite size button.

Are you able to use this carbite button with no lube inside the case neck and have it work smooth and easy?

I just tryed my new neck button and it stuck hard on retraction on 3 cases so i lubed the rest of the necks on the inside and switched back to my old inside sizer with no problems

This lot of brass had previous 4 loadings and only neck sized. This time I full length sized and tried to use the carbite button and it stuck. Im wondering if I hit a donut inside there in the transition from the new full length size and my previous point of 4 neck sizes

I use lube with mine. If you are neck turning there is a donut formed at the neck sholder junction and makes it hard for the button to pull back through

No neck turning.

I guess reddings statement that no lube is needed is BS

Try polishing the button in a drill or lathe with 400 grit wet-or-dry. It will get a mirror polish without removing any appreciable amount of material or changing the diameter measurably. Measure before, during, and after.

I do this on all of mine and it makes a remarkable difference.

Me thinks since this lot of brass has been neck sized 4 times about 3/4-7/8 of neck length only, when I full sized bumbed the shoulder it left a little "step" in the neck where the previous neck size ended. Maybe the button caught there.

I aneled this batch after sizeing so ill try the carbite button on another batch that im just neck sizeing and see how it goes

If you want to get way from lubing inside the necks use bushing die. The bushing should size the necks about .002 under the bushing size.
Your current die is probably sizing the neck .007 to .008 undersize.
