May 2007. They suggest using Mil. 30-06 cases to start with.

Did they mention why the 06 case was prefered over the 35 Wehlen case?

richj35 Whelen wasn't mentioned but the reason to use military '06 cases was the thickness of the neck.

El DeguelloI had a friend in Texas whose late husband left her two of these. One was a nice drilling in 9X57R, and the other a Mauser in 9X57 rimless. We made her ammo using expanded 8X57mm cases for the Mauser and Norma 7X57R brass for the Drilling. Some of her original 9X57mm rimless ammo had 280-grain roundnose bullets in it. We used 250-grain Speers for our loads. Got them up to 2300 FPS w/o pressure signs, although the Drilling had a .354" groove. Case necks expanded adequately to release the bullets......
