Just curious on why there seems to be a shortage of brass for the 7 Rem Mag and 300 W Mag! You can find Hornady Nosler and Norma but common as in Winchester or Remington seems non existent.Just curious if they are drying up the brass or just want you to purchase factory rolled. Maybe trickling down the reloading brass making it harder to find for reloading.
I have a good supply but trying to get friend into rolling his own and having a hard time as most larger suppliers are out.

/Shrug. Dunno. It wouldn't be the first time I'd purchased loaded ammo just for the brass though.

MidwayUSA has both 300 Winchester Magnum and 7mm Remington Magnum brass in stock made by Winchester.

Keep in mind that though Nosler and Norma brass may be more expensive, you'll probably get more reloads out of it than you will out of some of the cheaper stuff.

Here is how the big companies do it; they can't possibly run all types of brass and ammo at once; there are not enough machines to do that. So they concentrate on the big demand items, and then make runs of the lesser demanded items. If their ammo division needs brass, guess who gets it; them, or the brass sales division? So it might be once every year or so that some of the items get made, and by then, backorders eats up all the production. It is hard to forecast how much to make these days. Demand is very high.

I believe there is some truth to this. I think the main driver here is profit margine. No secret many are stockpiling components fearing the gov't will make it more difficult to obtain components. So the big companies (win rem etc) see more profit in selling loaded ammo than they do in selling components. So that is where their resourses are going. Smaller companies like Nosler , Hornady and some offshore companies like PPU, Norma etc will try to fill that market but I doubt they will keep up.

dpcd is correct. They all make "runs" of the brass as they can. For example, this year Winchester chose to make 264 Win Mag brass again. They had not for a few years. I can't wait until they decide to make a 284 Winchester run.

I bought two bags of Winchester brand, .300 Win mag at Cabela's (Allen, Tx) today. Several more bags were left on the shelf, too.

There is a big bag of supposedly once fired (probably true) 7 Rem Mag brass at local gun shop for $25. I'm guessing there is at least 200 in it. Hardly worth buying and shipping but if anyone wants me to pick it up and meet them somewhere in Texas, I'll try to do so.
