9x57 Mauser
I have just acquired a commercial Mauser in 9x57 Mauser. Everything is tight and in good shape, and I have dies for it. Any suggestions on powders and loads for it? I'm going to start with 200 gr round nose bullets, and move up to 250s. I'm not looking to set the world on fire -- 2200-2300 fps is just fine.

Thanks for your help.

Steve-

I hate to correct the master, but you gave him data for the 9.3x57, not the 9x57 (per your excellent site).

Thanks again for sharing your extremely informative collection of data with all of us.

Slug the bore before you use .358 bullets!

The bore diameter of a 9mm Mauser barrel is not as important as whether or not a .358" bullet will freely drop into a case fired in your gun. In other words, will the case freely release a .358" bullet upon firing? If so, then you can use .358" bullets. I have used them in a 9X57 Mauser and a 9X57R, both of which had bores that miked .354".... No problems, accuracy was good, and the .358" bullets would slide right into a fired case....
