Resizing .40 S&W brass???
About 7-8 years ago I bought 2,000 once-fired .40S&W brass and I've been using a RCBS Carbide resizing die to do that job.

I've noticed that it is certainly possible to "feel" the difference in some of the brass through the handle of the press. Some slide up smoothly and other not so smooth. Most likely this is due to this brass being shot out of so many different pistols.

About 1-2 times per 100 I've notice that the brass seems oversized and almost feels like another caliber when moving it up into the die. This sizing results in a build up of brass right at the case head line and is only happening with Speer brass.

Questions:

1. Is this because of the manufacturer of the brass... Speer, as it does not happen with any of the other brands??? or

2. Is this the result of this Speer brass being shot out of a pistol without a supported case head like a Glock .40???? Maybe it's an older Glock .40 model??? Do the new Glock .40 models resolve this problem??? and

3. I found some Midway brass in the pile. Who made this for Midway?????

Thanks.

Some use these to get rid of the bulge near the head that the carbide die does not touch. Redding G-RX Base Sizing Die Kit 40 S&W or this one Lee Bulge Buster Base Sizing Kit (380 Auto, 40 S&W, 45 ACP)
