My Hornady manual doesnt list T-G for the .44mag

The Hodgdon website lists several loads for it.

Does this mean that its not a "good powder choice" for this caliber? I plan on making hunting loads for this one.

TiteGroup is a very fast powder typically used with lightweight bullets for target and plinking, not typical applications for 44 magnum.

For hunting, you would start with perhaps 250 gr. bullets and medium burn-rate powders such as Unique, PowerPistol or Universal.

Heavier bullets and high velocity require slower powders like H110, W296 or Alliant 2400.

You should find good loads using these powders and bullet combinations from both bullet and powder mfrs. Jacketed bullet loads do not interchange with lead bullets, and vice versa. Lead bullets at higher velocity require gas checks.

I just loaded some Hornady 200gr XTP with tite group last week, it seemed like more muzzle blast but less kick than my normal loads using power pistol but it still grouped close enough where I shouldn't have to adjust sights, going to try some more next week and see.

I used to shoot IHMSA standing field pistol with a box stock S&W 629. I had great success pushing a 200gr cast bullet at 1050fps using TightGroup.

It was very accurate, not position sensitive, and was clean burning.

However, if you're looking for magnum performance, I would suggest you look at H110 or Alliant 2400.

titegroup is fine for light loads. It is not meant to produce i high velocity load for a .44mag. i use it in my for my light loads. I also load it in my .38, .45, and .44mag
