merganser1110gr. load for 300 Savage?
Does anyone have a good load for the .300 Savage useing 110 gr. Sierra HP bullets?
My rifle is the Remington 700 Classic.
I have H-322, Varget, IMR-4064, RL-15, IMR-3031.
I would rather use the H-322 because I have many uses for the other powders, but welcome all suggestions.
This is not to shoot at game but to get my nephew used to a full sized rifle as he grows.
Thanks for any info. Merg

39gr. of 3031 should give you about 2600fps. +. Work up in your rifle.

You may find you can safely load it somewhat hoter but 2600fps. ain't all bad.

H-322 and IMR-3031 are both good for this job.
In the Rem 700 you can push to 60,000 PSI if you want and might hit 3,000 FPS before you encounter signs of pressure.
This is always a dangerous practice because your loads might some day reach someones 99 Savage which isn't quite up to the task.
Hornady shows 43 grains of IMR-3031 and 110 V-Max in a Savage 110 to yield 3,100 FPS.....
I'd prefer to see data for the 99 Savage to prevent the possibility of misuse of this type of ammo.

merganser1Thanks Gentlemen,
With otheer bullets, 3031 seems to perform best in that rifle. That's what I will try. Thanks, Merg
