PMC Brass
When flaring 38SPL brass, the pmc brass has a ridge around the case about 1/2 inch from the mouth caused by the flaring die, none of the other brands have this problem. I,m using RCBS dies. Why and is this a problem?

The ridge on the brass not the dies.

It could be that the PMC brass is thicker than the other brass you are using. When you size it, the interior gets smaller than the other brass you are sizing. Then when you open it back up with the expander die, it lets a ridge at the depth the expansion stem stopped at. I didn't say what I wanted to say all the well, so I hope you get the picture!!!BCB

I quit using PMC brass of any kind. I have problems with their brass that I never have with any other brand

Major Caliber
Robert, what caliber did you have a problem with? I've used 45acp, 270 win, and 30-30, and it's excellent.

I have a bunch of PMC brass in 38 Special and 45ACP that I bought before I started to handload. It was the cheap PMC ammo in the red and white box. About 1/3 of about 500 38Special brass has offset flash holes, about 1 in 10 of the 45ACP has offset flash holes. The brass has held up OK. But I wonder about quality control wherever the brass is made.
