Trim Die Question
For those using a trim die what do you use to cut off the excess brass? Thanks.

When I have to cut a lot off I use a cut off hacksaw blade in a saber saw if it actually cut off in the die. Usually I just use the die to form the case and I cut it off with a tubing cutter or a lathe.

I use two tools: 1) A 32-tooth hacksaw blade in a hacksaw. I try to get the widest, thickest, such blades I can find, to keep them from doing any un-needed twisting as I make the intitial cut of the case neck sticking out of the die. Cut across the top of the die at a slight angle so the blade both cuts the brass and stays in contact with the top of the die. The die is sufficiently hard that you will NOT cut its top with the blade.

I then finish the trim with a medium cut mill file. the case is till in the die...you just file down until the file doesn't bite any more. the die top is hardened enough so you can't harm it with the file either. BUT, buy cheap files, as rubbing the file teeth against that hardened die top ruins the files before very long.

I learned this all from the instructions which came with RCBS file-trim dies 50 years ago.
