bobb d243, best powder please
I have a 243 and am about to reload so I was wondering what powder/primer/bullet combo`s you kind people have found to be the best, the gun is a heavy barrel varmint CZ550 and the cases will be winchester and i was thinking of 100 gr soft points and 65 gr v-max
many thanks Bob
I've always had good luck with plain old IMR4350. For practice I use bulk Remington Corelokt 100s.
Try Vhitawuoy N160!
Ive had great results with it!

2ndtimerFor the 65 gr V-Max, I would try some IMR-4064 or Varget. For the 100 gr bullets, the first choice is usually IMR-4350, other options would be H-4831, Reloder 22 or Accurate MagPro.

StonecreekThese two bullet weights are too far apart for the same powder to give you optimum velocities. With the 65 grain, you might try something in the range of Varget, RL-15, or maybe even H-414. The 100 will do best with something in the 4831 range.
If you want to compromise, 4350 will likely be satisfactory, though maybe not optimum, in both.

ShooterBobBob,
I've always had best results with IMR 4064 for lighter bullets (70g - 85g) and IMR 4350 for heavier bullets (95g - 100g). I recently had problems getting IMR powders and had to switch to Hogdon Varget and H4350, which are similar and have the benefit or being temperature insensitive.

ShooterBob.

Surprisingly the inexpensive WCC846 is doing great for a number of us. As stated elsewhere the repeatability is good if you can stand the BAAARRRUMP and dirt.

A friend uses Varget in his 26 inch bull barreled 243 and shoots .500 groups shooting 20 round groups.
