5.56 mm data needed
Would someone please post the "average" velocity and a good approximation (or source) of B.C. for 55 and 62 grain military loadings.

Thanx,

Louis,
I have test results for the SS109 62 gr ammo showing:
Avg. muzzle vel. 3074 fps
Avg. 500 yd vel, 1842 fps
Avg. BC 0.353
20 inch barrel, 7 inch twist
There was no listing of altitude, temp. etc.

Louis, I have chronographed Fed. XM 193 Lot #5 5.56mm M193 Ball at 3045fps out of a 16.5" barrel

My reloads with WC846 cannot attain that no matter what I do. I have settled on 27.5 (twenty-seven and one half)grains of WC846 with Rem. 7 1/2 primers, LC brass, and 55 grain FMJ pulldown bullets. 2950 fps.

Can't help with B.C.

When I had my CAR I used 27.5 gr. W748 to duplicate military 55 gr. ball velocity with bulk 55 gr. FMJ. Don't have the figures here but I think that 28 gr. W748 was max.

Remember you are responsible for your handloading, not me.

Thanx to you all for the information.

I needed it to post a chart for all the folks that pass through our range to see that all they need to hit the 300 meeter targets is to get it "PROPERLY sighted" in on the 25 meter zero rnge.

I also wanted to show them that wind drift could be a factor in qualifying with some of our direct crosswinds.

Thanx again,

LouisB

I can exceed XM-193 velocity using 26.5gr's of AA-2230
