akalininMidway's "Blemished Bullets" - risky?
Midway has some 458 caliber "blemished bullets" for about 1/2 the cost of the regular stuff. They call them 'factory seconds', and they look like hornady manufacture.
Are these worth it?

30378Yes Sir! They are good stuff.

RicochetI've bought Hornady blems (unnamed, but that's what they are) from Lock, Stock & Barrel. They're most excellent bullets!

CheechakoBlemished bullets are like a girl with freckles. The performance is not affected in any way.

vapodogI can vouch for the above statements.....Hornady (so-called) Blems are excellent for deer and speedgoat hunting!.....and a lot more!
In a .458 they're as good a practice bullet as you can get as well.

SnowwolfeBullets may be good but there shipping prices suck.
They wanted almost $30 to ship me three boxes of .45 caliber blems. And they could probably get 12 boxes in a flat rate box for $8 and change.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

BuliwyfNot risky, but not at a good price.

You got that right, Midway really bends you over on shipping every chance they get.

GatogordoWell, I dunno, shipping prices are definitely up and from Midway, I just got 39 boxes of those blem bullets plus a set of dies shipped for $45.80. Seemed cheap enough to me, works out to about a cent a bullet. OTOH, they wanted nearly $13 shipping for 3 boxes of backordered .257 bullets. I canceled that portion of the order.

krakyI just put in a $105 order with Jerry's Sports which is a pretty decent priced distributor. The package weighs 9# and Ichecked the ups site for actual shipping and it's $10.79. They charged $17. OK.....17% seems like alot but they are getting an extra $7 for package material and time packaging and handling. In this day and age of wages I guess I can swallow that. I'm saving 5.5% sales tax so I guess in real dollars I"m paying actual shipping. The postal service has a heck of a deal with those flat rate packages.....I wish we could back them a little better with some business. I guess it's the world we live in. The blem sale is a good deal....but I've found that hoarding and overstocking on supplies just makes me have to miss out on the next sale. Tough world we live in here in America isn't it!!

dudley do rightWhat we all need to remember they get quite a price break for shipping with UPS, FED-EX ect because of their voulume. I quit buying from Midway for that reason. I even wrote them and asked why the did not use flat rate boxes. Their answer? It is too much trouble.

RojelioThey've got them hidden pretty darn good. I've been to their website 3 times and still can't find any blemished bullets. What gives?

ramrod340On the main page simply type in blemished in the "search for" box.
As usual just my $.02

akalininThat's because most of them are sold out. Damn, that was quick!

RojelioGot 'em ordered! Thanks, Rojelio

RicochetThey only had them in 100 piece boxes, at a price considerably above what Lock, Stock & Barrel has sold them for in 1000 lots. I decided I didn't need them too urgently. I've been mostly shooting cast bullets recently, anyway; I'm pretty well stocked up.

GrumulkinI'm not sure where you guys are getting your shipping prices from. I just bought a couple boxes of the .458 cal. blems, 500 of the .204 blems and a bunch of other stuff. Shipping was only about $13. The savings on just ONE box of blems about paid for the shipping.
Are you sure you guys aren't having your stuff shipped air mail???

SnowwolfeI got the price for shipping off Midways sight. They always try to rip us Alaskans off and refuse to compromise and use the USPS flat rate boxes.

ole_270Well, I got 3 boxs of the 25 cal 100s and a box of the 110 Interbond to try. With 2 each .250 Sav. and .257 Roberts around it's hard to keep bullets on the shelf.
