<KING>.223 with Varget and CCI Bench rest Primers
I want to load some .223 rounds with Varget and CCI bench rest primers for a Mini 14. I plan to use 60-62gr bullets. Anyone out there ever tried this any imput would be appreciated. I figured 25gr of powder as a starting load. Is the powder too slow for the auto action? My mini gives reasonable accuracy for plinking, and I've got pleanty of Varget. Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to use too slow a powder to ruin the op rod.

ready_on_the_rightSounds about right for that weight bullet and powder combo...Many service rifle shooters load 26.0grs under SMK 69's and 25.0 under 80's

ricciardelliFor 60 to 63 grain bullets, try Varget from 21.7 grains to 26.4 grains.

NoCALI've used up to 27 grains in my bolt gun with a 69 grain Sierra. Wouldn't recommend that for an autoloader. My $0.02 is that I've had horrible results from using the CCI Benchrest primers. I gave up using them and went back to regular Small Rifle. Every situation is different obviously but it was a little wierd to me.
