AAdams25-06 and 120gr hornady bullets need help on powder choice.
A lot of you sugested that i go with the 120gr bullets so i ordered some hornday 120 gr interlock hollow points .I now need some powder choice.I am thinking about using imr 4350.This is for a savage tactical with a 24'' barrel.Thanks.

ramrod340IMR 4350 is too fast. You have a heavy bullet and small bore. I would look to the slower powders. H4831 or slower. I have not used the 120 but, use RL22 with my 117.

GLCMy personal favorite powder in the 25/06 with 120 grain bullets (I use the Sierra 120 HPBT) is Hodgdon H-4831SC. Excellent accuracy and high velocity. I use 54.5 grains which is slightly above book max but works for me. Follow the books and start less. I have a Remington 700 with 26" Douglass barrel. Velocity with the above combo is 3250 ave.

ValI use 49 grains of IMR 4350 for my 120 grain 25-06 loads. I use the Nosler Partitions and I get .75" 3 shot groups. The chronographed muzzle velocity is 3008 fps.

ReloaderAAdams,
You might want to look at IMR7828. I had a pretty good load worked up w/ R22 and then I decided to give IMR7828 a try last week. The 7828 was more accurate at 200. That'll be my choice till I find something better.
One thing I did notice is that I maxed out before "Book Max" w/ the 7828. It shot great w/ 53 grains but, that's as high as I could safely go. Your's may very well be able to go higher than 53 grains.
Good Luck!

snowmanI've had very good sucess with IMR 7828 and CCI 250 primers with 120 gr bullets in long barreled 25-06's. I suspect Rl25 would also be very good

cgbachMy favorite bullet for my Ruger #1 .25-06. Try H1000, the others are a bit fast. I have not tried Re25 yet; it may be ok. I get best accuracy at 3150-3200 fps.

Cal SibleyI use IMR4831 or H4831 in my .25-06 with 120gr. bullets. Reloder 22 would probably work nicely too. You're going to want a slow powder though. Best wishes.
