<wksinatl>Anyone shoot a .223 contender?
I have the 14" (w/ brake) Hunter barrel in 223. I've just starting to reload for it and would like to hear some load experience. I have 748, H322, IMR4995, Benchmark, and AA2520. I hope to find an accurate load with these powders and some 52gr Amax's, 52gr HPBTM's or 55's. I'm leaning toward starting with 748 and 52gr AMAX's. How about it guys? Any suggestions? Thanks, Keith
I have had 223 in 14" and 20" bbls and will have another someday.
Both bbl were very accurate with a CCI 400 primer, 26.5gr. of W748 and a plain old Speer 52gr. H.P. bullet packed into a rem. case.
This same load with a nosler 50gr. Bal. tip is deadly accurate in my freinds TCR
Have fun!

I have a 14" Contender in which the best load uses N133. With a 52g Hornady, 22.7g N133, the best group has been .834". Mostly around 1" @ 2760fps. Federal 205M primers.
A prairie dog load which works in both the Contender and a rifle in this caliber is 26.6g Varget behind Speer 50g TNT's. WSR primers. Accuracy a bit over 1" in both guns.
I've used RL7, H322, IMR4064, WW748 and AA2230. All except H322 and 748 worked well in mine. In all cases accuracy was best with bullets jammed in the lands.
