BobSHog load for a Lott
If you were going to shoot hogs from 100 to 300 pounds with a 458 Lott, what bullet and mv would you load to. I just got one and want to get used to hunting and carrying it. Recoil is not a problem while hunting. I also hunt with a 375 H&H and have had no problems shooting it.

pertinax.45-70 bullets, if your gun will reliably feed them (mine won't). I'd use the 405 gr semi-jacketed bullets.
Load as hot as you want, but realize that they'll disintegrate at well over .45-70 velocities. I'd keep it around 2000 FPS, for a light pleasant load.
Full disclosure: I'm a Lott owner, but not a hog hunter.

Paul HCan't imagine a 350 gr Speer or Hornady wouldn't do the trick. 76 gr of RL 7 should get you in the 2400-2500 fps range, and tight groups.
Now if you just have to use full patch loads, I'd go with a 500 gr Hornady @ 2200-2300 fps.

NBHunterIf your stand/stalk hunting I'd think about any of them would do. If hunting with bay dogs, go with a 45-70 bullet to lessen the chance of an exit and posiblely injuring a dog.
