Help with Reloder22 and 7mag
I just got back from purchasing a pound of reloder22 for my 7mag. I have been using H4831 with 175gr.SBT Gamekings. My load with that right now is 60gr.

I need to know a good place to start with reloder 22. My sierra book does not list this powder.

Also, how has Reloder22 been working in the 7mag with 175gr. pills? Did i make a good decision with trying this powder, or should i get somthing else. All comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanx Ryan

C101,

Here's a link to your load:

http://recipes.alliantpowder.com/rg.taf?_function=centerfire&step=2&bulletID=244&cartridgeID=1068&caliber=7mm&cartridgedescr=Rem%2E%20Mag%2E&bulletdescr=Sierra%20175%20Spitz%20BT

They only list max loads, and suggest reducing 10% for starting loads. The Sierra 175 is the only 175 that they list RL22, the others only have RL25.

If it doesn't work, start at www.alliantpowder.com and follow it through.

Hope this helps, Bill

This group, which measured somewhere around 0.303-inches for 5-shots at 200-yards.
It was fired using a Ruger 77R in 7mm Remington Magnum with Leupold 12x optics
Case: Remington
Primer: CCI-200
Powder: 64.6 grains of RL-22
Bullet: Sierra 168 grain Hollow Point Boat Tail
Velocity 15' from muzzle: 2,943 fps

I also loaded some Nosler 175 Partitions with 63.2 grains of RL-22 and Remington 9-1/2M primers group size was a little larger, and velocity at 15' from muzzle was 2,903 fps.

I certainly won't argue with Steve's success.

I would caution, however, that if 60 grains of H4831 is near maximum in your gun, then RL22 is only a tad slower, so Steve's 64+ grains may be too hot in YOUR gun. I think you would be safe to start with your the same 60 grains as your 4831 load and work up from there.
