safari300gr Northfork baffled???
I started out using 76.0gr of W760 with the 300gr northfork in my .375HH getting 2400fps. I usually get about 2500fps with a 300gr bullet so I tried 78.0gr today and averaged out at 2430fps. Am I just not going to get this bullet to 2500fps. ??????

lawndartTry some RL-15.
Because of the copper shank, the 300 grain bullet is on the long side for the 375 H&H. The 270 grain bullet might give you better over all performance.
I tend to save the 300 grain monometal or mainly monometal bullets for my 375 Weatherby.
Just a couple of thoughts.

vapodogI'd try H4350.....you should be able to reach 2,550 with a charge of 77 grains.....and , of course, work up.
You didn't say what pressure signs you encountered with the Win 760.....but that's a fine powder for the 375 H&H.....you should have been able to make it there.

safariYea the pressure seemed to be fine, bolt lift was easy, primers looked good, groups were around and inch. I have used W760 with 300gr Nosler, Swift, Sierra, Hornady, and Trophy Bonded, and with 78.0gr of W760 the velocity is 2500fps thereabouts. This has always been my go to powder for this rifle. I have tried H4350 with other bullets but not yet with the northfork. Just seemed odd to me that I was getting very minimal velocity gain with 2 grains of powder, and was still around 2400fps.

fredj338Maybe it's just me, but 2450fps & 1moa, I'ld be happy there.

IMR or H4350 should get you a bit closer though.
