Just got a batch of 150gr Ballistic Tips that I plan to use for punching paper. I have H4831SC and IMR 4350 on hand for working up loads.
For those of you that shoot Ballistic Tips in your 270WCF are you getting better results with H4831SC or IMR 4350?

IMR4831 for me.

H4831 works best in my 270's.

H4831, AA-3100, RL-22, and H-450 all work great with 150's in my .270

The various 4831s (H, HSC, IMR) all give better results with 150 gr. bullets in the .270 than do the various 4350s(H, IMR).

My best results are to use the H4831 for the 150's and IMR 4350 for the 130's. Actually in my 270 there is not that much difference between the two powders. I've also used IMR 4831, H380 with good results. IMR 4350 also works very good with the 90 gr. bullets.

I guess there is an exception to every rule. My .270 likes IMR 4350 with 150 gr. Ballistic tips.

Not the answer you are looking for but with 150 gr BT the best I have seen so far is RL22. 56.5 gr and measured 2950 fps (24"). Clover leaf accuracy - 1/2". In my 270, with SC4831 or 4350, I could not get the velocity out of the 130, 150 or 160 gr (pressure signs) that RL 22 would produce. 55 gr and 160 gr NP = 2850 fps and 58 RL 22 = 3110 fps with 130 NBT. 130 Sierra BT equals the Nosler velocity but the accuracy certainly favors the NBT's. I've got a real long throat and the Hornady's shoot like a shotgun - I can't seat the bullets out far enough due to magazine restriction and Hornady's do not like the jump to the lands. The nice thing about these loads is that in my rifle no need to resight - they all hit the same basic spot. Out of the chrono I have also noticed that velocity spread with RL22 is very minimal - sometimes 4 to 10 fps.

The choice of testing the 150gr BT's was my wife's choice. I have six boxes of different types of bullets on the shelf and she picked the BT's because they looked really cool. I am going with H4831SC this time and maybe try the IMR 4350 later on if the results aren't to my liking.
My rifle seems to prefer H4831SC with flat-based bullets and IMR-4350 when using boat-tails. Don't know why. Maybe this load wil be the exception to the rule. This load will be just for punching paper and general plinking anyway.
