.458 Win Mag trim to length ???

Why doesn't the Hornady, Accurate Arms and Hodgdon load manuals match on this length?
2.495
2.490
2.480

It is 2.490, correct?
(2.500-0.010)

Maybe because it's arbitrary. If I had some at 2.5, and everyone whinges the cases are made too short,(re Lott) why shorten them anything?
I'm trying to lengthen mine.
