Powder Lot Variations..
After a great deal of load developement I've found that my .223 loves 25.5 gr. of AA 2230. I've ordered an 8lb. cannister of this so, of course, the lot number will be different. No doubt some verification and fine-tuning with the new lot will be needed.

I am thinking that if I loaded up some at the favored load as well as .1 gr. either way (25.4, 25.6) I might cover the variation in performance from one lot to another.

But, I've never been down this road before...what are your thoughts and experiences?
Is there generally more than a .1 gr. variation from lot-to-lot? I need to do this preferrably in one more range trip as I have to load 1500 rds. for an upcoming PD shoot.

Thanks

Three lot# of IMR4350,all one pound cans, the same load, buy a eight pound jug and it's 2 grains slower. Roll Eyes The rifle is consistant when the bullets go 2620.But the most interesting thing was with a new lot of N-550. In my 338-06,N-550's extreme spread opens past a certain pressure,on the old lot it was 61gr and 2645,and on the new lot it was 60gr and 2615.
