<cidrmakr>300 Savage reduce loads
I'm looking for info on a safe, much reduced load for the 300 savage using the 110 gr plinkers. Used for playing in the back yard with the kids on pop cans. (Yes I live in the boonies). Would like to be down around 1000 fps or less, but don't want any bullets stuck in the barrel.

p dog shooterI found that a great reduced load is 2gr of red dot a 90 swc .312 cast bullet can hardly hear it very accurate. You have to use a 312 expanding plug to seat them.

<heavy varmint>My brother in law and I played around with reduced loads using Unique in his 45-70 with 300gr. cast bullets. In his rifle with the micro groove barrel 3gr. would penetrate 1 inch of pine at 50 yards but 2.8 would stick in the barrel. Had fun working up a good backyard load though and the stuck bullets wasn't hard to push out.
