todbartellBarnes X bullets in 260 Remington
I was curious of too how much the different weights of X's (120, 130, & 140 gr.) infringe on the powder capacity when seated to 2.81"? I'd like to shoot the heaviest of these weights that will put the base of the bullet no deeper than the bottom of the shoulder.
I'm thinking 130 gr. may be the one.
Anybody have some 6.5mm X's and some 260 cases handy? Try pushing a bullet into a fired case until it is 2.81" total, then take another bullet and hold it up beside, and try to eyeball how deep it is.
Thanks in advance

SlydogTodd,
All I shoot is the 140XLC's in my lone eagle hand gun. They work well for me and have what it takes for quick clean kills.
I followed your instructions and this is the mesurment you asked for.
.562" and thats about .045" below the bottom of the sholder
Hope this helps

Slydogremember Todd, that the barnes X bullets are all copper and therefore longer than bullets of the same weight with lead cors. also the ojive is diffrent, you may get away with seating shallower than with a conventional bullet.
Just a thought
