LR vs SR primer pockets on the
Has anyone here had experience comparing SR primers VS LR primer in the 7.62 x 39?

If you mean in terms of performance or accuracy potential, yes, I've loaded brass of both size primers. I doubt that without a rifle of bench quality you could tell a difference. I found no appreciable difference in velocities or apparent pressure, and in my marginally accurate rifle, of course no difference in accuracy.

Bingo, the answer I was looking for. Guess I'll keep the Win brass I have. LOL. Thanks.

I've a Mini MK X in 7.62 and have thoroughly tested both LR and SR in the 7.62x29. If the load is worked up with LR primed cases (IMI or WW) you can add 1/2 gr powder to equal same pressure and velocity when switching to R-P cases and SR primers. If the load is worked ip in R-P cases with SRs then drop the load 1/2 gr for equal pressure and velocity when switching to LR primers.

ideally if you are going to make ppc cases out of 7.62x39 you use small primer pockets, but i've never found the difference. besides the small ones are harder than hades to find now

Yes, however the pressure/velocity difference you are experiencing could as well be related to the difference in brass thickness/case capacity as to the difference in LR vs. SR primers. Or it could be related to the brand/briscience of the particular primers rather than to their size. It would take more data to determine the true relationship between primer size and load performance.
