Do .458 win mags shoot the 300 gr bullets well ??
Wondering how well a cz .458 win mag might shoot the 300 gr hollowpoint bullets as fast as the .458 winnie can drive them, rifle will be a second hand cz 550 .458 winnie. Just wondering if others have tried this.
cheers pc

SLSShot them out of my 98 mauser. Only shot them enough to sight in. Then shot two deer with them at 125 yards. Worked well. Bullet did not exit. It was found under hide on opposite side. Bullets stayed together pretty well and expanded to the point of being nearly flat. Both broke one shoulder on each deer. These were Rem Corelok hollow points loaded with Reloader #7. Seems like groups were around 2-3 inches at 100 yards.
Thanks sls,
it seems from the little I have read that .458 win mags don't shoot them as well as 45/70's..................must be a different twist or something, stepping to 400 gr cuts the group size in hald it seems.
Is there anyone else out there thats shot a lot of 300 gr bullets in the .458 winnie ??
