.308 Win pump action die question
I have recently inherted a Remington .308 pump with a 20" barrel that I would like to make into my woods cartridge.

Do I need to buy under sized dies for a pump action? If so I usually used Redding dies do they make these? If not what dies do you recommend for this?

Also powders, I do not care much about velocity mainly accuracy. What is likely the most accurate powder to start with?

Use the search function with key words "small base dies", lots of answers there.

Probably not. Try the standard full length dies first, if they don't permit smooth chambering of your hand loads, a small base sizing die will probably be in order.

Powders? Varget is a good place to start.

Just get a some RCBS small base dies. So you won't have to worry about it. You should be able to use regular dies as long as you use the brass you fired out of the rifle. But if you have a bunch of range brass or what not then I would use the small base die to size them.

IMO any full length resizing die will work fine.

For powder go to your loading manual and pick the one that produces the best velocity from the data shown.

I have reloaded a lot of ammo for my Dad's 760 in 30-06. I have never found the need for small base dies in it, even when using spent DCM brass or brass previously used in my Win bolt rifles.

If you already have dies for the 308, I would give them a try. If you need to buy dies anyway, I would opt for the small base dies as a matter of insurance.
