Anybody got a favorite 7x57 load for the 154 grn Hornady. Or if you have a 150 & 160 lod I can extrapolate from there.
H4350, W748, or RL-15 are the powder I keep on hand. But I don't think RL-15 is the right choice.

BobsterI use 42 grains of IMR 4320 with the H-154 grain in Remington brass, roll-crimped in RCBS dies. My rifle has 1 in 8.5 in twist, so you may be able to load hotter. Lyman manual lists 44 grains as max with 1:10 twist. Velocity is around 2,700 fps and accuracy is excellent. With a 200 yd sight-in its ballistics allow me to hold on "fur" all the way out to 300 yds on deer-sized game.

craigsterIn my custom Mauser 7X57 I use 48.5grs of IMR4350. For this rifle this load is quite accurate and the velocity is right at 2850 fps (24"bbl). Good luck.

AtkinsonThe only powder I use in any 7x57 is H414 and it my long throated rifle I get some outstanding velocities...

I have a CZ550 American in 7x57mm that will do honest-to-goodness .602 inch five-shot groups seating the 160 gr. Nosler Partition .010 off the lands. I use an ample supply of H414 and chronographed the load at 2,814 feet per second. I was going to work up a 139 grain Hornady SST load for antelope, but figure what the hell, that slug is going plenty fast enough, the 160 grain slug will open up okay, so I'll just stick with a one-load gun. Mike I get over 2800 using h414 0r w760 from a 19" barrel. Thats a 162gr. hornady.

He also got me hooked on H414 and IMHO is the only powder for the 7x57. Prior to H414 I used RL 19 with good results.
I too have a long throated rifle. I like using the Speer 130 gr @ 3000, 154 gr Hornady @ 2852 and 160 gr Nosler @2823.

What brass is everybody using for their 7x57
loads? My dad had some Norma, which was Excellent, but locally I only have remington avalible, and im not particularly happy with it. Much less capacity than win or norma.

MerlukeI use Winchester brass, WLR primer, 52 grains of Accurate 4350 and 160 grain Hawk bullet. The bullet has a .030 jacket. Chronographed MV 2750-2800 fps. Rifle is a Ruger 77 tang safety. I have had no problems with this load at all. The Hawk bullet is terrific.

rickt300I use 49 grains of AA4350 under a 160 grain speer or 150 grain combined tech ballistic silvertip. At present I am wearing out Sellior and Bellot brass. This load gives slightly over 2700 fps and is mild in my rifle, a M98 with a A@B barrel 24 inches long.
I started many years ago reloading with Winchester brass. Can't find any more as W. has apparently discontinued. Does anybody have a source on winchester? Maybe we should all email Winchester and ask them to make a run. Any experiences with Remington brass, good or bad? It's looking like I'll need to convert to Remington soon. Bob

<eldeguello>Have used Remington 7X57mm brass almost exclusively, with aboiut 40 Norma cases as well. The Norma brass has a little more capacity, but it isn't really any better than the Remington cases. Rem. lasts as long.
