.338 LM 250 Grn. Sierra worth trying?
I have been using the 300 Grn. Sierra BTHP Matchking with great results for some time now (bbl twist 1/10 @ 26"). I never shoot closer than 500 yards with this round/gun combo and my ability is around 1200 yards (on a good day) with any consistency. I have been told by a few that I should try it's brother the 250. Anyone see any reason to bother?

Low BC. Check the Lapua Scenar out.

Berger are going to be selling 338 bullets later this year.
That's what I'm saving for.
The bulk pack of 500 250gr SMK's I got had a lot of variation in the meplats.
I would not look at them again.

Regards,
Bob.

When I was load developing I tried the Scenar and didn't get the results I wanted or rather the Sierra 300MK grouped in better. Kind of odd considering my barrel was built around the Scenar in trials? I think I'm just going to stick with the 300 MK. 4.5" at 500 yards is pretty tuff to beat (at least for me).

Thanks for the suggestions...

Bob--they all do that is why there is a meplat uniformer. More important is to measure the bearing surface of each bullet and sort.

Have been shooting the 250 gr 338 SMK's for 15 years and the 300's for a few. In the 338 AIWMs rifles I owned (2) loved preferred the 250. Prefer the 250 to the 300 because of slightly less jump off of the bipod lol.

In competition when I screw on a 338 Slowpoke (338 Variant) the 300 is used due to the higher BC because of the horrid bag manners only high winds see that tube. Also, have several sporters and I use the 250 SMK exclusively and all 3 shoot lights out.
