Well I thought i had all the steps down. I was getting the primers out, loading new ones, putting in the right ammount of powder, and then putting in the bullet. The problem is that the bullets are LOOSE i can twist them around and I know that isnt right. I have a lee challenger press fromt a kit. What do i do to make sure the bullet is in there tight?

YOu haven't sized the neck down tight enough... YOur die needs to go down a little more...

Yep, the sizing decapper die. Light a candle and, keeping it far enough away, blacken the neck. You don't have to cook it just blacken it!Now when you resize the case the sizing die will remove the blackened part, allowing you to see how far down you have gone. Next, adjust accordingly.

Alrighty, so you are saying I must go down even more on my die? I thought that just popping the primer out would be enough but maybe I will have to try goin down deeper. Does anyone know of anything else I may be doing wrong?

Hey Max, Don't take this as talking down to you or giving you a hard time, but you might want to re-read the Instruction Manual that came with the Kit.

Somewhere in it there should be a section that describes how to "Set-Up" the Resizing Die. It should cover everything in fairly good detail for you.

Are your Dies the "Collet Style" which just resize the Neck?

With your shell holder in the rame but no case in the holder, stroke your press handle all the way. When your shell holder is all the way up to the die, screw your die in to where the distance beetween the die and the shell holder is about the thickness of a nickle then tighten you lock ring...tj3006

If you follow these indtructions be sure to do it with a UNLOADED case, don`t put a flame to a loaded round. I use a magic marker to color cases and the ink works just as well. The die will wipe the ink where ever it touches and show how much sizeing you are doing.
By the way a loaded round in a sizeing die will stick in the die if the neck does enter it. Not a good situation.

The above post to reread the book (text parts not the lod data) that came in your kit is a very good one. It is very important to understand what you are doing before you start. Reloading isn`t hard but it can be very dangerous if done wrong.

Since you have already primed the cases you need to adjust the decapper pin back out a little so you don't set off the new primer in the sizing process. Once you get past this batch I hope you have better luck. Another thing you will need is lubricant when you full length size or you will stick a case. You will also need a case trimmer very soon. When you resize a couple times you will find you can't chamber a round. The case stretches and needs to be trimmed. You also need a deburring tool.
If you can find someone locally to watch one time you can save yourself some headache.

hold up guys , i had something similar , with a 257 die set , it wasnt the dies , or the setting i used , it was the wrong expander installed from the factory ! the dies were 257 wby , and the ball was for a 270 ! guy , try to resize the case without the decapping rod in all , then see if the bullet is just a bit tighter , but remember to chamfer the case neck or seating will be difficult at best , buy the way my roberts likes a lot of neck tensoin , and i load them this way , just use a universal decapping die , and left the expander ball out of the equasion . if the expander is the trouble , try polishing it down with a drill and fine (320 ) grit or finer paper , just dont go so far as to be 224 dia! try and we'd all like to know how you make out .
