dukxdogRedding Type S dies
I just got some of these dies included with a rifle I bought.
I've never used them and they need a bushing for the neck. How do you determine which size bushing to use. The chamber is a standard dimension not a custom neck size.
Thanks.

KenatiI started using these for .223 Remington and .308 Winchester autoloaders. I was previously body sizing, then neck sizing with a Wilson inline die in two separate (time consuming) steps. I like this setup much better and I am producing concentric cases with good control of the neck using this setup. If you choose to use an expander, I recommend upgrading to the carbide type available for these dies.
This is how Redding recommends choosing a bushing. (It is located on page three of their catalog).

DoglegI wouldn't bother with .001" under bushings at all. Neck tension tends to be very low, and it gets worse after the cases have been loaded a few times. .002 or .003" works better.
The best part of the S-die sets is the Comp seater. I can routinely make straighter ammo with a FL die than a Nk bushing die.
