Swift Reloading Manual
They debited my credit card yesterday, so perhaps it is finally going to ship!

Anyone received theirs yet?

Happy days! I received my copy of the Swift Reloading Manual #1 today! (Friday, 12 July) I'm tempted to add the year to the date, but it just seems like it was that long. The "watched pot" syndrome.

Got mine in the mail yesterday from Graf & Son's. After spending about 2 hours going through it, I have to say that I am somewhat disappointed. Swift provided load data for 2 powders from 3 different companies (Hodgdon, Alliant and IMR) for the 7 cartridges I concentrated on. Judging from the max velocities that were obtained, it is clear that the lawyers were heavily involved in writing the book.

What cartridges are listed?

Finally! Do they list data for the .375 RUM? If so, I'll be getting one pronto.

viator, FWIW, the Nosler 5th edition manual has some data for the 375 RUM.

I recieved mine Wed. the 10th. It is very conservative. I do like the format though.

Thats great news! Does it list data for the 300H&H and/or the 6.5x55? The lady I talked to at Swift, a month ago, couldn't tell me if they would be included.

Yes it does list the 6.5x55, but no 300HH or 338-06.

Paul K,
I apologize for duplicating your response. I saw your response beginning with "It does..." and somehow translated it as "Does it". Bad eyes, I guess...

Thanks for the replies on the .375 RUM. I just got the new Barnes 3 manual, but, as I suppose we would expect, it doesn't give any load data for Swift bullets!

I want to work up loads in both Barnes X and Swift A-Frames with 300 grain bullets.

Thanks,

viator

Joe,

Does the Nosler 5th edition manual give more data than that which is available in the printable version from the Ballistics Room at their web site?

That shows only two powders for 300 grain Nosler's, IMR4350 and H1000.

Also, would data for Nosler's be applicable to Swift bullets?

Thanks,

viator

No 8x68S and no 9.3x74R???

With their 220 grs .323 and 250 and 300 grs .366 thats a shame ...

Sorry to be so slow....

The Nosler #5 only lists IMR4350, H4831sc, IMR7828, and H1000. The last powder was their most accurate with the 300 grain Partition or Failsafe.

In my very limited experience, Swifts seem to use a grain or two less powder to reach the maximum pressure. It correlates as well as any data, start low and work up.

By the way, they claim that the 375 RUM is the most accurate 375, and "has edged-out the old H&H as our standard test vehicle."
