SD ShooterWho loaded S&W rifle ammo?
In doing some cleaning out of old boxes, I found a plastic blister pack containing 10 rounds of 30-06 which is labeled S&W and has a S&W headstamp. I remember buying some of this in the late 70's or early 80's.
Does anyone know what company loaded this for Smith & Wesson? Just curious.
Thanks

Paul BI'm going to guess that it was Federal. They also loaded up ammo for Sears and Monkey Wards, and some other outfits as well.

StonecreekHard to say. Winchester loaded the ammunition that was once sold as "Browning".
I would say, looking at the time frame that S&W ammunition was marketed, that it is unlikely anyone other than Federal, Remington, or Winchester (Olin) loaded it. Today it could be from Eastern Europe, Isreal, Korea, or a number of other places.

SD ShooterThanks for your input. I figured that it would be a mental exercise to which I couldn't come up with the answer.
Have a great day!
