VihtaVuori N 550 for 30-06 Nosler Partitions
Got a free 2# can of VihtaVuori N 550 powder and cant find any load data for a Nosler 180grn Partition bullet for a 30-06 Spfld 24" barrel. Also have a 7mm-08 Win. featherweight 22" barrel using 140, 160 and 175 Nosler Partitions. I looked up Barnes and Speer bullet loads but they are so far apart I dont know where to start or stop. The VV site is helpful but not for the Noslers.
Would appreciate any suggestions on powder loads for these bullets.
Oh yeah - not a real experienced reloader, but do have a CED Millennium chrony.

Find the VV formula for a like weight bullet and use it. Of course, start low and work up.
Barnes bullets seem to be a law unto themselves so I would use any "standard" bullet info (carefully) before going to the barnes data.

VVN550 looks like is about the same burn rate as 4350. Have at it with the 180s

I use 56gr h4350 with a 180 gr

I think you will find that it is a little faster than IMR 4350, perhaps more like 4320... If you truly work up the load you will be pleased. Especially with the 165 grain weights.

My experience using V V 540 is that I can not get as much as IMR 4064 or 4320 by weight, and the V V 550 could not match the IMR 4350 by weight in the .30-06. My rifles, and my observation only...

Five burn reate charts on my wall show ww550 about the same as h4350. Even ww540 is slower than 4320.

Thank-you all for taking your time to respond to my questions. When the weather gets better on the Westside of Oregon I'll take em out and see hoe the loads perform.
