The Vanishing Point Is Theoretical After All :)!!
Last night I emailed Gerard, the technical directer at GS Custom about my order of bullets for my m1909 Argentine which is chambered for 7.65x53 Belgian.
I told him I felt the Vanishing Point, the theoretical, mysterious place on the horizon did in fact exist...somewhere between South Africa and Fairbanks Alaska. I ordered a box of these bullets exactly ten weeks ago today, Wednesday Dec. 5.
Guess what came in the mail today? Yup, and these are packed the best I have ever seen with little slabs of styrofoam to keep the box from being crushed.
The address is clearly visible under a sheet of tape, not crushed or abused, it just fell of the edge of the Earth for a little while and resurfaced just now.
I cannot wait to load these up and see what they'll do.

10 weeks? Heck, 10 days seems like forever when you're anxious for something. I'm glad to hear everything worked out, as I'm putting together an order for some GS bullets in the near future.

I'm just amazed that a package made it from ZA to AK in one piece! Then again, I'm also amazed at being able to buy fresh produce in the middle of winter...

There seems to be a little fairy somewhere that touches the packages with her wand and says 6 weeks, 10 weeks, six weeks, ten weeks...

Or maybe she's dismembering a daisy like the girls in school...

No rhyme or reason that I can see.

Let us know how they shoot. What did you get?

I am going to put a bounty on that fairy's head and when I find her, I am going to kick her butt till her nose bleeds.

Get her to deliver the packets instead ;-> Next time I'll probably use air-mail since our season is drawing to a close and my order for 264HV:s still hasn't materialized.

It will be cutting it fine to work up loads (on a friends equipment!)and get some hunting done.

I just told my friends that the new bullets will be here in 4 months--that way I can't go wrong!!
Gerard--don't know your manufacturing capability but, sound like everyone here is about to become customers. I think it's time you put some inventory over here in the states!! (That way the fairy has to go on unemployment!!)

This may be a really dumb idea but I've had them before...with all the hunters etc gong back and forth between the US and South Africa on good old SAA would it be possible to set up some type of friendly courier system that would get them from JoBurg to Atlanta/New York in one day and then into the UPS or US Postal System? The one obvious problem may be security but there should be some way to get that squared away even in these post 9/11/01 days.

Or, like along those lines, create a drop ship station in the states. Ship airfreight to the US once a week (or whatever), and then UPS it on? That would give you 6-12 day delivery times, even if product is not in stock. Heck, I could handle that (even if my location sucks......). JMO, Dutch.

I have gotten my magazines from So. Africa as late as 3 months late....Ever been in a RSA Post Office...aha, the indigenous at work, some of them actually get up and mail something ever month or so. Many believe in sabotage just to piss us off, now would you believe that. Then you have Zimbabwe, wow!
