.44 mag loads
Looking for powder and load advise for a 210 Silvertip@1,000fps and a 200 Barnes XPB @1,100-1,200FPS. My revolver is a 29-2 with a 4" barrel

I also have a 4" M29 but these days I only feed it mild 240gr lead loads. I like 10gr Unique for just about 1000fps w/ a 200grJHP. 11gr will get you close to 1200fps.

I have read that it is better us Magnum primers in reduced loads. Do you use them for these loads?

Not for reduced loads using Unique and similar powders in the .44 Magnum. I only use them in the full loads of powders like 296 or H110. When I used 2400 I used magnum primers also, but not all loading manuals recommend them at that. It won't hurt to use them in most cases, though, if you like.

What are you looking for? The reason I ask is a 210 jhp at 1000 fps will most likely not expand, it will probably be accurate but could also be easily duplicated with a lead bullet.

The Barnes bullet for how spendy they are is in the same boat. If you want a load that will recoil less than full power jacketed loads I'd look no farther than 210 or 240 lead swc's and some Unique with STANDARD primers.

If that will work many of us could post a mess of cast bullet loads.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the Win. 210 silvertips were made to be used in 44 Special. If this is the case they should open at 1000fps.
