dentonJust a couple of thoughts about the auctions, from one who got stung--
Get the seller's name, physical address, and phone number before you bid. Check him out in the directory. If his address is a PO box, get his actual physical address. Read any feedback on the seller. If there is none, approach the situation with great caution. If you can pay by credit card, you have a little protection from fraud. Carefully inspect your purchase before you do the FFL transfer, and, if it's not what you paid for, send it back without making the transfer. Under those circumstances, shipping costs both ways are legally the responsibility of the seller... but good luck making that stick.
Gunbrokers "insurance" is a scam. I paid for a rifle, never got it, and never even got a response from them on my claim, even after multiple letters.
All that said, the trader boards can be a good place to shop.
If you like milsurps, check the trader board at
www.gunboards.com. They often have non-milsurps, too. And they are a pretty nice bunch.
