tnekkccBullets that Copper foul faster?
I have just spent 2 days scrubbing the Copper out of some .270s after shooting 30 rounds in each. The bullets were Remington 130 gr. I heard once that Rem uses pure Copper instead of alloy, and fouls faster. Any truth to that?

Don't know but my .270 has the same problem with that bullet. I've been blaming the Stevens Mod. 200 barrel. But I also have severe Cu. deposits in my Stevens 22-.250 maybe worse.

There's a world of misinformation circling the web and one must cautious of believing everything he hears.......
I'd be tempted to believe Remington knows what makes good bullet jackets as well as anyone.....they have been doing it a while!
Usually fouling is blamed on Barnes and other solid bullets. This is the first accusation against Remington I've read.....but I have no first hand information.

GSP7Since the topic is copper, what about sierra bullets? The copper is a little different color. Seems I read somewhere sierra copper was harder??? Huh?..... Any truth to that?

butchlocall them bullets have a copper or cupronickel jacket. if 1 fould your barrel so with the other one. solution - lap the barrel to smooth out the insides. easy way - fire lap - only takes a few minutes

Hey Tnekkcc, Did you hear that from your close and personal buddy denton?

The softest Jackets I've ever used were on the Fred Barnes Original Bullets that were made from Copper Tubing. They were a pretty soft Copper Alloy, but I've never been able to recover one from Game. Still have a few and they will foul a "new" barrel fairly quick.
Never had a Soft Jacket problem with any
Remington Bullets(in comparison to other manufacturers) and that includes the ones
Remington makes with the "
PLated on Jackets"(PLHPs).

Is it a "new", slightly used, or ancient old Barrel?

tnekkccI heard that from a benchrest competitor that was hanging out in Lynwood Guns.

MickinColo“Copper in the rifling happensâ€. There is no getting around it. Some bullets product a little less but they all lay down copper in the rifling.
Cut rifling is not the smoothest process in making a finished barrel, there is “tool chatterâ€. As the cutters are pulled through the bore they leave little marks along the length of the bore which collect copper.
Some rifle barrels are better than others are about not collecting copper. It all depends on how often they change or sharpen the cutters.
Copper may or may not be a bad thing. Some rifles shoot better with a little copper build up in them.
