7mm RM load for Bushveld
Loading for a 7mm RM, what would the best option be for bushveld hunting in South Africa, range between 50 -150m? My thought was 175gr Barnes TSX at approx. 2400-2500ft/s. Any suggestions or comments?

Cheers

IMO, the big 7 was made to shoot 160gr bullets. Smiler

I've never been comfortable with either the internal or external ballistics of monometal bullets, especially at slower velocities where they are less likely to provide adequate expansion. A jacketed lead core bullet is much more predictable. At the lower velocities you are contemplating, I would better trust a simple cup-and-core bullet like a Hornady, Speer, or Sierra; or if you anticipate very large game, perhaps a Nosler Partition.

As wasbeeman says, the 160 grainer is a great bullet in the 7mm Magnum and offers a good combination of trajectory and penetration, but if your ranges are no more than 150 meters then trajectory doesn't really matter.

Now thinking that maybe 160gr TSX at 2800-2900ft/s might be the way to go for a good allrounder
