Load for Short Barreled 9.3 x 62
My good friend Rob has finally seen the light and has bought a Mauser actioned 9.3x62 for driven Wild Boar hunting. The barrel is rather short somewhere between 45 and 50 cm. Has anyone developed loads for short barreled 9.3x62 mm with minimized muzzle flash?
If not, I plan to use faster than normal powders (e.g. N130, N133), any comments/suggestion?

Thanks for the inputs,

Regards,

I have a custom Sako carbine in 9.3x62 with a 47 cm barrel and have developed a number of loads which I think you could find useful . 232 gr Norma Bullet , Norma case , Norma 201 @ 58.0 grains , CCI 250 primer , OAL 3.065 , vel. 2470 .___250 gr Barnes bullet ,Norma case , Vihtavouri N 150 @ 62.0 grains , CCI lr primer , OAL 85mm , vel. 2400 . ____286 grain Norma Plastic Tip , Norma case , IMR 3031 @55.5 grains , CCI lr primer , OAL 81.1 mm , vel. 2226 . These loads were developed over the past 2 years and shoot < MOA without any muzzel flash . The velocities were measured with a Oehler Chrono . Be cautious , these loads are in my gun and are only a guide . If you have any questions please email me direct . Good luck .Ralph

I would try to find the equivalent of our RL-15, or IMR-4350. I use 58 or 59 grs. of RL-15 with the 286. Its the only powder I have been satisfied with in the 9.3x62.
