45 Colt Pyrodex loads?
I understand that the 45 colt started out as a low pressure black powder cartridge. I'm gonna get into cowboy action shooting and wondered if anyone had 45 colt load info using pyrodex in modern firearms (A Ruger Blackhawk and a Marlin 1894 Cowboy lever gun)

Thanks,

I shot CA for many years & tried BP in my .45 colt loads for one match. A lot of fun, but too much work cleaning after each days shooting! For BP, just fill the case to slightly compress the powder under the bullet (i shoot 250gr in BP loads). Check the Hogden web site, but I think Pyrodex Cartridge is supposed to be loaded the same as BP.

If ANY POWDER requires compression to work well, it is Pyrodex! You might be able to use a Wonderwad on top of the powder, if the charge you choose is not compressed by the bullet alone, but some compression is required for uniform ignition!
