I want to purchase a Lee Classic Turret for reloading 30-30, 270W, and 45-70. I can't figure out what to purchase for a Lee powder dispenser. There's the Lee Perfect, Lee Auto disk, Lee Pro Auto Disk, and double disks. There's special charging dies, and risers. So if someone owns one and uses it for large rifle, please educate me on the best setup. I'll need to throw charges ranging from 30gr to 60gr of ball and short-stick powders.

I've not used it but I think you will have to use the "Perfect" measure to achieve that powder volume. The others are for pistol loads.

I have the Perfect. It will drop some serious volume. It has no problem with 70-grain drops for my 300WSM and it will go even further...

Just so you are aware, the Lee Classic turret may not necessarily operate in auto advance mode for a longer rifle case such as the 270. Check the Lee website for exact details of length and even that will depend on the brand of die you intend to use.

The Auto disk and the Pro Auto Disk are not for using with rifle dies, they are intended for pistol and revolver dies. The Lee Perfect measurer has worked flawless for me. OF course I have to adjust and weigh and adjust and weigh until I get where I am confortable with the charge being thrown.

But once set it is great!

Do I need the special, taller charging die? Do I need the riser? I use a Lee Perfect and the little bugger works great for everything except fine ball powders like AA#5 (leaks). Works great with ball powders like H335.

Yep! Once you set it, it will never change on you by itself. I gently tap the stand I built for it, throw the charge, then tap gain to make sure every granule of powder has dropped. Consistency from charge to charge over a long string of them is remarkable. I built the stand tall enough to drop powder through a funnel into a .30-06 case when said case is in a loading block. The blue funnel you see there is for filling .17Rem cases. I cut it down about three inches, threaded it and it works great for 300WSM and .223Rem cases. I set the measure a half-grain or so low with the RCBS Rangemaster 750 and the light blue vial (for holding three or four charges to get a large weight for a small eror) you see there, then trickle up to charge weight with the Redding trickler. The powder measure is bolted to my bench with one bolt to allow it to be swiveled out of the way when I do other processes like trimming, chamfering, et cetera. The stand is cut out underneath to allow a full block of shells to be loaded with a funnel with no interference between block and the stand. Works very well...

I think dla means to use the powder measure on the turret. For the Lee Perfect you use the Universal Charging die part number 90273 which sort of automates the process.
