375 H & H powder question

Brice375 H & H powder question
I need to develop a load for hunting deer and elk (for a friend) and plan to use 270 gr Barnes TSX's because a) I have some and, b) I don't trust the cup-and-core bullets such as the 235 gr Speer Hot Cor, to stay together.
I'm out of R15, my first powder choice. What would be your powder choice? I have on hand:
-IMR4350
-H380
-W760 (tons)
-IMR4064
-N540
-H4895
-RL22
And a few others. The objective is accuracy above velocity. Where would you start?

GrumulkinI would start with buying some RL-15 but that's not what you wanted to hear.
Of the choices you give, I'd start with IMR 4064.

BNagelMy .375 Wby Brno liked W 760 better than IMR 4064 with 270-grainers. Sorry, but it also liked RL-15 best.
If yours did well with the 4831's, the RL-22 is worth a look, too.

BriceI'm going to shoot two ladders on Weds. IMR4064 and W760. They're far enough apart on the burning rate chart to provide a meaningful test. If that doesn't work, I'll PM BaxterB.

Blacktailer4895 should work fine. The H&H is very forgiving.

DoglegI use RL15 for 270s now, because it was worth a bit of speed. Before that, I was hard on the 760 and H414 which shot well in every .375 I ever used it in.
Slightly off topic, but a 235 CEB ESP Raptor can be driven at 3000 fps out of my 25" barrel with H4895 without breaking a sweat and matches a typical .300 mag's trajectory out to 500 yards. Shoots a little flatter than the numbers would indicate, but targets don't lie.

airgun1IMR 4064 is my favorite powder in 375 H&H. I use 66.5 grains with 300 grain bullets (various), and 70 grains with 260 grain Nosler Partitions.
ETA: Fed 215 Primers is the only way to go in a 375 H&H. That's my opinion and I'll stick to it.

crbutlerTruth be told, I have been using VV 540 for my .375 loads for many years now. Seems to give the best accuracy and also velocity for my rifle.
I think you need to see what the rifle likes best...mine shot all acceptably, but the 540 is consistently sub MOA out to 300 yards with Barnes TSX.

4166 It's a new, temperature forgiving, double-base powder that has been developed by IMR-Hodgdon. It is designed for the same kinds of applications as Rel-15, being a tad slower than the 4895's and faster than the 4350's and 4320's. But the best news is that it has been readily available from places like Powder Valley, Midway, MidSouthSS, and NatchezSS.

ledvmIf I had tons of W760...I am betting you can find an acceptable load with it for a friends rifle.
N540 is the Barnes preferred powder for that bullet even over R15.

LeeCRL15-Varget, and 4064 are neck, and neck.
I would use either one in place of the other.
4064 was the Varget of its day. If I had to choose it would be Varget, or 4064. I never liked 760, to me it has a more violent recoil.
All the powders listed would work though.

Back to your question. I worked up a load 270-------------------gr using the original Barnes and AA4350(because I had a bunch on hand). As I was using this for plains game in bushveld conditions in Cameroon I went with a mild load that gave me a bit over 2500fps. I believe the load I settled on was 80grs(or was it 82...). Anyway, this gave some impressive results. I have no doubt that you could achive similar results with IMR4350.
