cal30 1906.25 auto bench rest rifle?
Just catching you eye!
How can you explain the Whisper series of cartridges at subsonic velocities?
Some of these are recored as superb accuracy wise at beyond 600 yards using a 200-300 grain bullet at less than 1100 fps.
This is at approx 15psi (avg earth atmospheric preassue at sea level)
Trajectory is not a concern.
I recall the subsonic launch speed was to eliminate the buffeting which can occur as the bullet slows from supersonic speeds, ie. dropping back down through the sound barrier. The heavy bullet is to keep the BC way up, trying to compensate for the slow launch speed.
Keeping the Whisper sub-sonic is for shooting a silenced gun. You can't have a true silenced gun if you're shooting super-sonic.

308SakoHeavy bullets and long distance... American Bison and the Sharps comes to mind. Trajectory like a haystack and impact like a doser.
